About me: Someday Rush was formed in April 2010 and is a Cape Town based band. They have been described as eclectic as their influences include rock, metal, punk and jazz. The band members are Carmen-Lee Julius as lead vocalist, Kyle Abrahamse on lead guitar and backup vocals, Nick Pugin on rhythm guitar, Caylon Hammond on bass guitar and backup vocals and Etienne Schmidt on drums and percussion. In July 2011 Etienne left the band to be LAME! and do grown up stuff (study). After our worldwide search for a new drummer, Michael (just juice) Gentis took over, after mercilessly defeating 123 other hopeful drummers in a battle to the death at the Helderberg Gymnastics hall and proudly took his place as SR drummer. (He remains undefeated and still reigns supreme).

The band has entered a number of competitions: Flipside Song writing competition, Battle for Netfest, Aandklas Battle of the Bands(2011), The Durex Ultimate Battle (2011) and the Emerging sounds national BOB (2011). They have played at local Cape Town venues such as Purple Turtle, Nameless Pub, Aandklas, R.O.A.R, Mercury and Die Balke (Worcester) and have been privileged enough to work with fancy and established agencies like Authentic Sounds,Bass productions, Edge talents, Event Horizons and NIVA records
They have opened for some of Cape Towns finest such as; When Karma Sleeps, Autumn of August and Obsessie Met Als, and even Namibia's finest, Out of Nowhere during their "South African seige tour" and played alongside bands including (but not limited to) Strident, Sindulgence, All my circus friends, Arksynesis, Arc Reactor, 3rd Minute Effect, Irvine,SLATE,Ree-burth and many more.

In December 2010 the band recorded a self-titled Demo EP with Paul Bailey from The Virtual Media Company. The EP consists of 5 songs that were all written and produced by Someday Rush.Their latest single "Little white lies" recorded with Gideon Murray from Katalyst Records featured on Maties FM. While their singles "Corners of my Mind" and "Don't need you to save me received air time on national Spur radio.(We're not fussy when it comes to publicity, we even got a whole 3seconds of "Corners of my mind"on 5fm.)We recently appeared as a guest band on Two oceans vibe internet radio,and to show off our softer side,we jammed a few acoustic songs for them during their live podcast.

Since proceeding to the Finals of The Durex Ultimate Battle, with 10 of the original 150 bands all over South Africa, Someday Rush had a feature article written about them in the Tygerburger newspaper. The Durex Ultimate Battle allowed SR the rare opportunity to represent Cape Town alongside 2O11s finest up and coming South African bands.Bands like Newtown(2011 winners), Coals of juniper, Short straw, Centrefolds and A Fate like yours in Joburg at the very well known Cool runnings(Fourways).

Their goals for the future (next 3 years) include, producing a full length album, playing at major music festivals and going on a national tour...(Nothing too out of the ordinary), while the priority for the immediate future is quite simple, gig! gig! gig! gig! As much as we can, whenever we can, maybe even where ever we can. The aim is simple, get the music out there by aggressively taking on the Cape Town live music scene and slowly extending our reach outside of CT.
