Slash Cd Review

Slash, former member of Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver struts his individualism with this album. The Legend in the Top Hat is back to entertain and electrify. Slash really explores the musical spectrum on his self-titled solo debut album and the star-studded supporting cast includes Ozzy Osbourne...

Kid Rock, Fergie (Black Eyed Peas) and many others. Whether the album will entertain or engender disdain is entirely up to the listener, however.

First and foremost, Slash’s vocal cords are not represented on this album; he sticks to what he knows and wows with his breathtaking guitar solos. The album kicks off with the lively song “Ghost” featuring The Cult front man Ian Astbury on vocals, a track that immediately delivers a mouthful of Slash’s sensory sentiment.

Anarchy-infused and absolute must-listen tracks include “Doctor Alibi” which features Lemmy Kilmister (Motorhead) grunting away on vocals and “We’re All Gonna Die” featuring Iggy Pop, as well as “Nothing To Say” boasting M. Shadows from Avenged Sevenfold.

This album shows how versatile Slash is in the sense that he adapts to the musical styles of the different vocalists and he does so without losing his signature sound. The guitar work on this album is simply astounding, ranging from Hard Rock to sorrowful to a bluesy infusion; Slash truly succeeds in evoking emotions.

Slash’s guitar riffs still cause delightfully dizziness and listening to this album with headphones is highly recommended. While the album in general reminds a bit of a compilation CD it has been cleverly compiled overall and the variety of music makes for an interesting listen.

Initial listening will leave you a bit flustered, but leave preconceived notions and expectations at the door, crack open a beer and allow this album to settle serenely in the cochlea.
