VOICE OF ROCK RADIO

VOICE OF ROCK recently launched its own licensed web radio station VOICE OF ROCK RADIO (VORFM) and is the first dedicated professional metal and hard rock radio station in South Africa, providing a hard to match format that offers only the very best of Heavy Metal & Hard Rock music. We are spinning the best of both worlds, from unforgettable Classic Rock and Hard Rock classics spanning across 5 decades right to the very latest tunes which have sometimes not even been released yet. VOICE OF ROCK RADIO combines all genres of Metal and delivers a striking combination of old school and new school. Every single track has been hand selected by our founder & president to ensure that our listeners only get the very best in Metal music.

Our station features high quality audio streams at low bandwidth meaning that you the listener will be able to listen for long periods of time without having to stress about using up your valuable bandwidth. Our showcase stream (available through our own radio player on the site) is a 64 kbps aac plus audio stream. This stream for sure ensures that you will perceive the audio quality to be the same (if not better) than that of a 128 kbps MP3 stream, but while only using up half your bandwidth…how cool is that? Our radio player is flash enabled and has an enhanced interface that provides accurate meta data (i.e. artist, album, year of release etc.) as well as cover art of currently playing tracks.

Listening to VORFM is currently free and does not require a commercial subscription although the addition of value added subscription packages are currently considered by management simply to compensate for the substantial costs to run the station and website. Also currently in the planning are weekly radio shows, live shows and guest DJs. More info will be announced soon.

There are lots of different ways how you can tune-in to listen to VOICE OF ROCK RADIO. We have only recently been added to the global Apple iTunes radio network where it can be received by iTunes users worldwide. Additionally and besides streaming through our own website VORFM has recently also partnered up with world leading MP3 and consumer electronic brands such as Sonos, Philips, Roku, Boxee, Vizio, Cisco, Logitech, Tivoli Audio, Crestron and Kodak. VORFM can now additionally also be tuned into from over 40 mobile applications for iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Palm platforms.

VOICE OF ROCK RADIO is fully licensed by SAMRO (The Southern African Music Rights Organisation) who has reciprocal license fee collection agreements with the world’s leading performance-rights organizations such as ASCAP, BMI, CAPAC, PRS, APRA, GEMA and many others. In fact SAMRO has collection agreements with over 200 performance-rights organizations worldwide and hence covering approx. 99% of all compositional works from around the world.
