After their awesome show in 2008 the British legend Iron Maiden will play at Wacken the second time. Their show on Thursday, August 5th, 2010 will be their only German show in 2010. Steve Harris explains: "Our show in Wacken last year was fantastic. When we came to know we will play some European festival shows this year, we thought it would be a great idea to come back again. What would be better than to play in Germany in front of 75,000 true metalheads who came to Wacken?"
A legendary metal band like Iron Maiden at the world’s biggest metal festival – sounds good! In 2008, singer Bruce Dickinson already said in his BBC radio show: "We played at Wacken and it was so fun. It was fantastic, especially when you look around there a little bit – there is so much action. We had a great weekend." We can now look forward to a unique live show in the NIGHT TO REMEMBER at the 21st Wacken Open Air with a fireworks of immortal Iron Maiden classics.
Fans of Wacken doyen and ex-‚ACCEPT’ singer Udo Dirkschneider can look forward to see him with his band U.D.O. The medieval band ‘Cantus Buranus’, the Dutch Hardrock / Psychedelic band ‚The Devil’s Blood’ and the Hessian Power metal band ‚Edguy’ (with lead singer Tobias Sammet) will play as well as the ‘Ghost Brigade’ (Finland) or ‘Immortal’ (Death metal from Norway) and the Classic Power metal band ‘Stratovarius’ (Finland).
But Wacken Open Air is not only famous for its bands. The general program is unique in the international festival scene. At metal karaoke young metalheads can go for broke. The Metal Battle, the festival’s own contest where 26 nations are partaking, searches for the metal stars of tomorrow. Final contest is in Wacken and the first prize is a record deal with Wacken Records.

The ‘Meet&Greet’ became a fixed instance the last years. Hardly one musician insists the chance to meet fans from all over the world and give autographs. ‘Many aspects of our general program became very popular so we optimised them and went on with them’, says Holger Hübner. The Beergarden will be opened by the W:O:A Firefighters and will be open from Wednesday to Saturday to wake up every tired metalhead. Another innovation and highlight in 2010 will be the cult orchestra ‘Fanfara Kalaschnikov’. The group turned some metal classics into orchestra sounds only for Wacken. Brass meets metal!

2009 was the first year of the Bullhead City Wrestling Tent with professional wrestler from all over Europe and in 2010 we want to say again: Clear the ring! The Medieval Market will be repeated, too, because it was a great success last year: sword fighting, LARP, weapon workshops…and the new Medieval Stage became popular, too. There will be another merchant area at the Medieval Market this year. But Non-Food-Mile and Metal Market will also offer you the familiar high standard.
Please note that bootlegger and racketeers are still on their way to sell overpriced and faked tickets at respective platforms. DO NOT SUPPORT THEM!!!
Like last year, there will be an official Wacken Ticket Swap Meet at www.wacken.com where you can offer your tickets for the original price only! We will check the authencity.
